Wabasha was the first community in the State of Minnesota to be settled. Several Buildings and the central business district are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Wabasha serves as an agricultural, commercial and industrial center for Wabasha County and neighboring counties in Wisconsin. Recreation Information

Facilities

Wabasha has an excellent downhill ski area, Coffee Mill golf club, a nine hole scenic course, municipal swimming pool, an eagle observation deck, and two marinas on the Mississippi River.


Festival/Arts

Wabasha is host to the Grumpy Old Men Festival in February, River Boat Days in July and the Wabasha County Fair in July. Continuing events include concerts under the bridge and the numerous visits by the Delta Steam Boat Company's Paddleboats.

Minnesota commercial real estate taxes are based upon market value of taxable property as set by the local assessor. To compute the tax for the year 2000, first compute the tax capacity by multiplying all property value up to $150,000 times .024, plus any value over $150,000 times .034. Tax capacity times the tax rate equals taxes owed.
